A review and meta-analysis published in Transplantation Reviews looked at the variability, determinants, and predictive value of Renal Resistance (RR) during HMP in kidney transplantation.
The investigators found that:
- RR typically declines rapidly and stabilizes within 4-5 hours of perfusion
- Higher terminal RR is associated with increased risk of DGF, however data does not support it as a standalone parameter to discard kidneys
- Histological features and donor characteristics influence RR
Over half of the included studies in this meta-analysis used LifePort Kidney Transporter, which provides a rich and consistent dataset for evaluating RR behavior. It was also found that LifePort data showed more uniform RR stabilization patterns, enabling clearer insights into RR trajectories and associations with transplant outcomes.
