Ruthanne, Manager, Medical Affairs

With nearly 30 years of experience in organ transplantation and donation, I joined ORS in April 2024. In my current role as Manager of Medical Affairs, I translate clinical insights into actionable guidance, ensure clear and credible scientific communication across ORS, and stay current on trends in donation and transplantation to help inform organizational strategy. At the core of all my work is a commitment to honoring the donor’s gift of life and helping transplant candidates receive lifesaving organs.

Prior to ORS, I was an independent consultant for UNOS, managing the OPTN Kidney Paired Donation (KDP) Program. During my career, I established the first – and one of the largest – regional kidney paired donation programs: the New England Program for Kidney Exchange (NEPKE). Knowing that hundreds of people have been given a new chance at life, in part due to my contributions, is indescribable.

Outside of work, I have a very active lifestyle. I love running, backpacking, sailing, and hiking – anything outdoors! The biggest mountain I’ve hiked is the Grand Teton in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I also enjoy hockey, cooking, and volunteering.
