A total of 22 ECD kidneys pairs (44 recipients) were included in a study that compared LifePort pulsatile machine perfusion with cold static storage at the Hôpital Saint-Louis, Paris, France. The 22 kidney pairs were from donors with a mean age of 57.8 years. The mean cold ischemic time was 20.3 hours in the machine-perfused kidneys compared with 22 hours in the cold-stored kidneys. The rate of delayed graft function was found to be significantly lower in the LifePort machine-perfused kidneys compared with the cold-stored kidneys; 9% vs. 31.8% (p = 0.021).
